Description:
Brough came from Cumberland and worked on the Victorian goldfields, before arriving in Nelson in 1866. He worked as a prospector and then took up contracting, later becoming the Public Works overseer. From 1881 to 1884 he had government contracts to build a road through the Wairau Gorge. read more …
